Jacquelyn Reiff, co-owner of The Studio, has more than twenty years of education and experience in sports medicine and physical education. Every interaction with a client is backed by her extensive experience in personal training, athletic training and rehabilitation, sports medicine, physical therapy, and leading classes in a wide range of fitness and wellness activities. With a commitment to providing the highest caliber of training based on her education and experience, Jacquelyn offers clients her knowledge, skills, guidance, and encouragement to help them achieve their desired fitness goals and enhance the quality of their lives. She encourages clients to develop body awareness and educate themselves on proper body mechanics and alignment. In doing so, Jacquelyn help her clients live healthier, eliminate pain, and improve posture and flexibility through innovative corrective exercise programs.
Jacquelyn holds a B.S. in Athletic Training from San Diego State University, A Master of Science in Physical Education from Azusa Pacific University, and a National Academy of Sports Medicine Corrective Exercise Specialist certification. Jacquelyn has completed her BASI Comprehensive Pilates program, as well as, the Polestar Comprehensive Intensive Transition program. In addition, Jacquelyn is a Pilates Method Alliance (PMA) certified instructor. She has advanced training with Pathokinesiology of the lumbar spine, as well as, scoliosis. She is certified in Pilates for Neurological conditions and has an extensive background in working with osteopathic conditions, including osteoporosis, joint replacements, many other diagnosis. Continuing education is a priority for Jacquelyn and she is always attending workshops, participating in online webinars and researching the latest findings in medical journals. Fascia is her most recent area of study. She recently attended lectures with Gil Hedley and hopes to continue her investigation working with Tom Myers with Anatomy Trains participating in fascial dissection.
Group fitness is also an area of excellence. She has earned numerous fitness certifications, including: Piloxing (all 3 programs), TRX (multiple programs), Bootybarre, BOSU Integrated Balance Training, Indo-Row, PiYo, Pound, Foam Roller Specialist, and Barefoot Training Specialist certification. She was a Physical Education, Health Science, and Science teacher (WA and CA), who taught in the public school system for more than ten years.
Jacquelyn has worked with youth, collegiate, and Olympic athletes, as well as, aging populations, inpatient rehabilitation, and outpatient orthopedic patients. Having done so, she understands the needs and motivations of competitive athletes, fitness enthusiasts, and those simply trying to recover from injury. She understands the biomechanics of sports training and injury rehabilitation both academically and experientially. Overcoming her own physical challenges in 2010, Jacquelyn began to focus on Functional Training, specializing in strengthening the core, and increasing overall strength, mobility, stability, and flexibility through the Pilates method.
Active in her community, Jacquelyn is a board commissioner for San Juan Island Parks and Recreation and is liaison for Friends and Neighbors Support Island Rec (FANS), and a board member for Friday Harbor Futbul Club (FHFC) In her free time, Jacquelyn spends her time being a true soccer mom taking her son Brendan off Island to soccer training, games and tournaments, supporting his passion.
